We are in need of a storage/shelving solution at home for our hundred's of book and ridiculous amount of magazines that is ever growing. Up until now I have always fancied the 606 System by Dieter Rams for Vitsoe (second picture). I am now leaning towards the string shelving system as I think it is a much simpler, cleaner and pure design. I also love that it comes in a variety of finishes and colours. The 'String' was designed in 1949 by Swedish architect Nils Strinning. Its simplicity is what really appeals to me and like the 606, its ability to evolve. The string is very very similar to the Tomado shelving system from Holland (first picture)another modular design that I really like.
