A few weeks

It has been a busy few weeks. Lots of work on which has included specifying my favourite material, formica!

The builders have been in putting a new opening and window in our kitchen. When the flat was converted the kitchen opened up into the living room and whilst it didn't have a window it did benefit from day light coming from the large sashes. Then somewhere along the line the wall was closed up and the door put round the other side facing out into a hall which it self does not have direct sunlight. A lowered ceiling was put in and then a fully fitted B&Q kitchen put in. The result. A kitchen 'cupboard'. Pokey, dark and claustrophobic. We took the ceiling down a few years ago and put in planning for a window and finally this year we had the money. It has made a huge difference. Finally we have a kitchen that has air, light (much more than we anticipated) and is a pleasant place to be. Hurray.

Mabel was the first to check out the new window. Although that is the last time she is going up there.

In between this we went on a whirlwind tour of Gascogne and sampling of Armaganc(too much).

  1. It looks very good. More light can transform a room. In that respect, plastered white walls can also have such a good impulse! I am curious to see the end result of the kitchen.
